I've been reading about all the uproar people are in over our President's back to school speech and wondering what in the world people are thinking - even my very conservative Republican father would have said HOORAY for such a speech - and I'm sure if a president had given such a speech when I was in school - my parents would NOT have opted out for me to hear what The President of our country had to say.
So, here is what all the uproar is about!

Just doesn't seem all that controversial to me - telling kids to take more responsibility for their education, to work hard, do their homework, stay in school.................................................
yep just really controversial isn't it?
I hope my grandson has the opportunity to hear President Obama's speech today.
I will write my crazy train blog later on.
Please go read this or listen to the speech when it is available and have a wonderful day!

I'm with you, Kris. I thought the uproar was ridiculous. They kept pointing to the lesson plan question that was eventually taken out: What in heaven's name is wrong with asking kids to help their president?? I'm very concerned about how polarized we have become...
Hi Felicia -
It just seems silly all this uproar - and as President Kennedy said many years ago "...Ask not what your country can do for you, but you can do for your country."
and I applaud the man for telling kids that their education is their responsibility too - not just their parents and teachers.
